Greg Evans is the designer and maker of fine hand made furniture inspired by the Shakers and the Arts and Crafts movement.  He uses only the finest solid hardwood.  Each piece is crafted using the wood of your choice - cherry, walnut, maple, oak, or mahogany.  Exotic woods may also be available. Greg has been making furniture for over 40 years.  He has a passion for fine workmanship that is both beautiful and functional.

Where it all began:

I started making objects from wood when I was in seventh grade.  My first woodworking project was a coffee table for my mother, made in the school shop class. She used this table until she died and it passed on to my brother. The next year I took a summer job working for a contractor, spending much of my time sanding doors for cabinets - to this day sanding is my least favorite part of woodworking.  In my spare time I took advantage of the contractor's workshop where I had access to every imaginable tool available at that time.  I remember using the bandsaw to make a wooden cross for my girlfriend.  Fifty years later, her mother still had that cross hung by her door.

As a 19-year-old newlywed I had no money for furniture, and turned to woodworking to fill the gap. My first pieces were primitive, made out of whatever was at hand. But I discovered   that I had both a talent and a passion for building furniture.  Since then I have made furniture for over ten different homes, discarding or giving away most of the furniture when I moved so that I could make new and better furniture for the new home.  Many times I had only a corner of a basement as a workshop and only the most rudimentary power tools.  But over time I was able to buy better tools and move into larger work spaces.  All the while improving on my furniture making skills during my spare time.

Eventually, I was able to turn full-time to my passion: wood working and design.  I invite you to browse through the pieces I have created. I will work with you to build a piece that you can use and enjoy: an heirloom and an original.
